so there won't be any specifics for getting around in them... remember, jam systems will require just the directory the jam files are in which is probably the same for all of your bases. a *.msg system will need the specific directory for each message base. both will use the file name to find the actual names of the files in the directory you specify. general overview: 1. set your zeronet Max Msg Age : 365 days ([) Prev, (]) Next, (Q)uit: that's it, do that for all the zeronet areas and you're done, read section 4 for more info on setting up your batch files... oh, you may also wanna go to "e" (message config) to specify your tear and origin line colors. because this bbs uses jam format, if you set your gecho to use jam format than you do not need to use another mail tosser like you do with many other softwares which means when gecho does it's stuff, it's done... that's it. notes: one of the many advantages of using JAM format is that you do not need an extra utility to import and export messages to/from your bbs as both your tosser (fastecho) and your bbs software use the same message format. here is a simple example batch file: - begin poll.bat rem --- scan from mystic to fe cd c:\fe\ fastecho scan rem --- get and send new mail from/to ftp via irex and toss it. import netmail cd c:\irex\ rexw -fs cd c:\fe\ fastecho toss feutil import - end poll.bat it is highly suggested that you edit your mystic runbbs.bat batch file to scan mail after each call. simply add the errorlevel for outgoing mail to your batch "if errorlevel 5 goto outmail" and then make a label outmail. :outmail C: cd\fe fe scan goto start automation: there are numerous was to automate your setup from here. you can let irex run in server mode and set up an events in it and use its batch files. you can set your bbs software's event system to run your poll batch file at certain times a day. you could uses windows scheduler or similar programs to run the event for you. you should be able to figure out something... more details can be found in older zeronet helpguides. ,-------- --- -- - | >> section 4: misc zeronet information: `-------- --- -- - 1. general info: jack phlash is now souly in charge of all aspects of the administration of the network, please direct all questions to him... the easiest way to contact him is via his email address jp@demonic.net 2. network access: most of our affiliate boards are private, ie... require strict validation rules or new user passwords. for the others we suggest you limit posting to zeronet to users you know can handle the responsibility... for instense, on m y bbs 20 (normal) sl users can read echomail, but only 50+ can post... the choice is yours, and ultimately you will be responsible for maintaining your systems users. the only mandatory echo on the network is 0n-sysop, which should be restricted only to sysops and co sysops of the node or of other ZERONET nodes. news will be posted to both areas typically, with more technical detail in sysop area. if you wish to stop getting other areas simply remove them from your tosser or bbs. if you wish to stop getting messages from that area send an areafix request to distortion or contact jp. (see below for information) 3. about your address: 911:1423/0.0 zone: 911 net: 1423 node: 0 point 0 zone: always 911, 911 is zeronet's official node and is registered as so on the echomail zone database. net/region: zeronet divides nets up by region. regions are specific/divided as telephone areas (already divided up for us, eh?) this is the first 4 numbers of the nodes local phone number. for instance us and canada could be 1XXX (1-XXX-XXX-XXXX) and anywhere else would be XXXX (XX-XX-XXXX-XXXX).
